First Day of work

So, the first day...
Always the longest day of your life, and very much like the first day of school.
You get your desk, you get to see who you will be sitting by, they show you were to eat lunch and you find out who the cool kids are and who the nerds are.
With any luck these last 2 things don't matter anymore, which seems to be the case so far. My Supervisor even gave me a cute little gift pack of funny office supplies and a card - Thanks Teacher!

I've already been embraced by the other Sales Assistant as one of the "wingmen"...  they took me aside and told me how it is.  My cube mate is this cute little brunette with an edgy bob haircut who curses like a sailor...   Perfect!

One of the coolest things, so far, is the craziest coffee machine I've ever seen. We had to ask the tech guy to come show us how it worked... I know, Matthew...   And depending on how many buttons you want to push,  it will make you a Milky Way latte - NOT KIDDING!
Think I might try one tomorrow...

The next coolest thing I found out is that it's practically Mandatory to dress up for Halloween!
Oh it's on!

Third cool thing - I can take a tour of the Beehive House during my lunch hour!  I KNOW! How jealous are you right now?

So all in all, not a bad day!  Whewwww!

Holidays Around the World - September 16th Edition

Today we have a whole new set of Holidays around the world!   This is gonna be good...  I can feel it!
If you happen to be a resident of Malaysia, you will not only be celebrating Malaysia day, but you will also be celebrating the Birthday of Yang di-Pertua of Sahah! Happy Birthday to Yang!
I’d like to wish a Happy Dia de la Independencia to Mexico, and a Happy Independence Day to Papua New Guinea!  Wow, so much Independence in September...I'm overwhelmed.
Ahhh! Another for Papua New Guinea - Happy Constitution day as well!  You go Papua New Guinea!
It’s Mayflower Day America!  Today in America we celebrate the Mayflower… not the landing of the Mayflower on Plymouth Rock, but the leaving of the Mayflower from England.  Glad you made it over Pilgrims!   Wooo is anyone else seasick?

Also in the US, it’s Stepfamily day!  Depending on how you feel about your stepfamily, this could go either way.  I myself would like to wish the members of my Stepfamilies (Linda, Robin, Jeff, Brianna, Spencer, Ashton, Tracy, Shawn, Tyler, Brock, Tanner, Camry, Brandon, Paige, Kylynn, Dalton, Logan, Dustin, Brittany, Cordon, Riley, Darby, Eric, Kaiden, Khylee, Kourtney, Brett, Phil, Meagan, and Ben) a great day! Whewww!   Did I forget anyone? Sorry if I did, Happy Stepfamily to you too, you mean the world to me, really you do…   Hugs :)

Happy Ordino Andorra!  I don’t really know what this holiday is all about…  Orindo is actually the name of a parish in Andorra, which happens to be the 6th smallest country in Europe, or so I’m told. I could not find any info about the holiday itself,  so I wonder to myself, is this a legitimate holiday?    Who knows, but I am intrigued by this country.

In the UK, Wales to be exact, it’s time to celebrate Owain Glyndwr Day (don’t ask me how to pronounce that) who was proclaimed the Prince of Wales on this day in 1400 after rebelling against the English Rule…   Down with the English swine and Henry IV! You showed them who was boss Owain, I hope you get your monument.

Okay People, make sure you are doing your best to preserve the Ozone layer! It’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, so let’s all join together and put down the Aqua Net and step away from the aerosol can…  Oh and try not to contribute to the greenhouse gas situation.  I do like the ice caps…

What does a Buddhist give up for Lent?

Today, being my 3rd day at work with absolutely nothing to do, I resorted to looking up international holidays that fall on September 15th - yes, I was that bored.

I would like to wish a Happy Independence Day to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
I'd also like to give a shout out to the other countries celebrating a holiday today.

Bolivia is holding their Cochabamba Local Festival.

Happy International day of Peace to the continent of Australia! I wonder if that includes Tasmania...

Happy Nuestra Senora de la Bien Aparecida Spain!

Happy Our Lady Mary of Sorrows day Slovakia!

And last but not least....

Today is also the international Software Freedom Day - whatever that is...

I also found out that Buddhists have a Lent day otherwise known as Wan Kao Pansa - who knew? I mean besides the Buddhists... This falls on that day after the full moon of the eighth lunar month.

What does a Buddhist give up for lent?
